French captain Zinedine Zidane made a heads up play when he lofted a shot to convert a penalty kick in the seventh minute. Zidane nearly scored again when he used his head to redirect the ball on net in the 104th minute. But he will forever be remembered for head-butting an Italian defender in the 110th minute of his farewell game. Without him, the French surrendered and the Azzurri celebrated their fourth World Cup championship.
