Week 15 Spotlight: Machine head.
For years Joel Murphy has dreamed of living in the world “The Jetsons” made famous – complete with flying cars and robot maids. Even though the new millennium failed to bring these technological advances, Joel still holds out hope that he’ll live to see the day that these visions become a reality.
So forgive him for being a little excited when he read in the newspaper that a Maryland woman received a bionic arm. That’s right; 26-year-old Claudia Mitchell lost her arm in a motorcycle accident and had it replaced with a mechanical arm. This one article has the Murphy Brothers’ collective heads spinning with possibilities.
Can a person with a bionic arm do thousands of one-handed pull-ups? Would pirates still be alive today if they had bionic arms instead of hooks? And most importantly, does this news take us one step closer to the day robots take over the world? Tune in as Brian and Joel attempt to answer these slightly ridiculous questions and more in another installment of Hobo Radio.
